As the world’s leading auction house for fine jewels, Christie’s has seen its fair share of opulence. This time however, the bar has been raised with The Annenberg Diamond, a 32.01 carat diamond that will lead Christie’s Jewels: The New York Sale on October 21.
Once belonging to the late Lenore “Lee” Annenberg, the diamond is a square emerald-cut D colour mounted as a ring and flanked by two pear-shaped diamonds weighing 1.50 and 1.61 carats. The sheer size of the flawless diamond, coupled with its previous owner’s illustrious history as a passionate art collector and philanthropist, gives it an estimated value of $3-5 million.
The Annenberg Diamond will be exhibited at key collecting centres such as Geneva, Hong Kong, London and Los Angeles, after which it will return to New York for the coming Fall auction
